I am reaching out to you today because there is a little contest that is going on on the website Manitoba: Canada’s Heart Beats that is dear to my heart.
Back in the 1980’s, my Dad, Alain Cormier, along with many of the wonderful folks from our home town of St. Claude, Manitoba designed and built the world’s largest fully operational smoking pipe. In fact, our whole family pitched in to build this nearly 500 lb thing! Located in the heart of our small town, it has become a source of pride and joy for our whole community. It has even made it into the Guinness Book of World Records although I believe there is now an even bigger one. For more information about the pipe, just click on the image below.
Manitoba: Canada’s Heart Beats is hosting a little contest highlighting some of the more eye-catching and memorable roadside attractions in the province of Manitoba and our pipe is nominated for one of the wackiest!
My Dad has long since passed away. He died in July, 2003 just a few months after my daughter was born, but that pipe is part of the legacy he left behind in our small town.
I ask you now if you would please be willing to take a few moments and vote for our “little” pipe to help us get into Round Two of this competition. The deadline for voting is Sunday, March 22, 2015. Our entry can be found under the category “The Wacky”.
