A Little Ditty … If You Please
by Dale Swanson
By way of introduction to my writing style, I offer a short little ditty and if it strikes a chord, it may entice you to take a look at my middle grade novel, Wild Ways – Mystery of the Hanging Tower.
The ditty is titled: Buddy and Mr. Cricket; it is followed with my introduction to the main feature . . . the mystery novel. I hope you enjoy the ditty and I hope you read the novel.
Wild Ways – Secret of the Hanging Tower
Nearly fifteen hundred years after Christ walked the earth, Satan’s rule on the North American continent was manifest. Man respected nothing of creation – only death and destruction of God’s bounty for their own purpose.
Into this time, was born Wawate Ca, Gentle One – Recognized by the animals as having a pure heart, they knew that within him and his gentle spirit lay their only chance for survival. They bestowed upon him the greatest gift they knew – the ability to communicate with all wild creatures. Wawate Ca saw their plight, and with their knowledge, changed man’s vision from destruction to respect for mother earth and all her bounty; a mindset that would last for the next four hundred years.
We know this because it was told to Oscar Johnson, in 1951, the second recipient of the “Wild Ways.” THE WILD WAYS –Mystery of the Hanging Tower, is Oscar’s story; a 30,000-word fantasy novella set in Minnesota, and aimed at the middle grade reader.
