Summary (from Amazon): A real author is coming to visit Mrs. Green’s class. That means Hubie needs to read her books. But how can he pick one when there are so many to choose from? And what will happen on the day of the visit? Will she bore the class to sleep with a long story? Hubie just doesn’t know what to expect…..
What it’s about: I thought it was funny. It has lots of things about books the author wrote. It had cartoon stories on the sides that made me laugh. I really liked when Penny Inkblot (the author) went to the school and talked about writing her books. She writes some scary and funny books. I really liked this one.
WhatI liked and disliked about it: I liked that it was about an author visiting a school. I wish an author would visit our school.
My bottom line: I loved it.
What it’s about: The children have to choose an author to visit and tell them about their books. Hubie has his mother take him to the bookstore and pick out a book. He reads it and has scary dreams.
What I liked and disliked about it: This was a great book. It had so many things going that it keeps you interested. Hubie is the main character and is quite funny and has dreams about the books that the author writes. The kids are fantastic, they have very cute personalilties. There are cartoons that go along with the story that make you laugh, because you see what the kids are thinking. Penny Inkblot (the author) tells them that if you want to be a writer start writing down ideas every day. We read this separately and together and laughed.
My bottom line: I would certainly recommend reading this and other books by Mike Thaler as well. They are entertaining with a hidden meaning behind them as well.
