We have something super-special planned for our Feature this week. I coaxed the Mr. behind Mother Daughter Book Reviews to come out of hiding and be our special guest this week along with our son, Dominic.
I’d like to introduce you to Paul, my hubby and Danielle and Dominic’s Dad. Paul is not a blogger, nor is he particularly interested in anything having to do with the internet. Unless he’s browsing for motorcycle parts on ebay. In fact, while he does have a Facebook page, he never actually logs in and checks anything. I know…gasp… I don’t get it either. Paul is a pilot for a certain big airline here in Canada and does lots of traveling across North America and overseas. Aside from his wonderful and amazing family, he has two major loves: motorcyles and soccer. Yes, you’ll notice that READING is not in there. He claims to be waiting for something good to catch his eye. Whatever (she says as she rolls her eyes).
Here is what Paul has to say about the importance of reading in his our home:
Reading is important because it stimulates kids’ imagination and gives them a fantasy world that they create and play within. Now that they are both independent readers, they will find it fun to read books on their own and discover new worlds inside books. I remember when I was in Grade 4 or 5 when I first read The Lion’s Paw (D.R. Sherman). I was fascinated by it and I wanted to be in the story. And that’s when I started reading for pleasure and for the adventure and I want that for our kids because it’s exciting. It’s an adventure you can have without being in danger.
Paul and Dominic chose a library book to review. Please click on through to see their review of the illustrated early chapter book Hi! Fly Guy by Tedd Arnold. Thanks Paul and Dominic!
