I’d like to introduce you to one of my bloggy friends – Dawn – who is the blogger behind Dawn’s Disaster. Dawn has only been blogging a few months so is relatively new to the blogosphere. Please give her a warm welcome and read on to learn more about my fabulous bloggy friend.
Dawn started her blog, Dawn’s Disaster a few months ago and she is having SO much fun! She tells me that for her first few posts, she didn’t really know what to write about. Then, her cousin started the 30 Day Blog Challenge and Dawn hopped aboard and started the challenge. Recently, she also began a new feature, the 30 Day Music Challenge, and is having SO much fun with that one as well. Check it out, it’s pretty cool!
Here’s what Dawn has to say about the importance of books and reading in her home:
Hi! I’m Dawn, from Dawn’s Disaster. I am the mother of 3.5 girls. My oldest is 5 and just started Kindergarten this fall. She is having so much fun, especially during the reading time. We have always felt reading is one of the most important parts of the kids’ days. All of the girls love reading time at home, and The Big One gets excited when she gets two reading times in a day
When we read books, if they pick out a short book, I read it to them, then they read it back to me. If it is a chapter book, I usually just read it to them and then ask what happened in the chapter we read that night. I think having them help read (reading it back to me) and review what was read helps them to understand what books mean. It helps them to really get a hold of the story.
Dawn and The Big One have chosen to review the Halloween picture book, Druscilla’s Halloween by Sally M. Walker. Click HERE to read their review. Thanks Dawn and The Big One! For more on Dawn and The Big One, please visit our Contributors page or click on the blog button above.
