[Cue Natalie Greyson]
Eleven-year-old Natalie is determined to overcome her habit of turning into a tongue-tied, air ball burping, runny-nose disaster whenever something embarrassing happens in front of an audience so she can audition for the coveted role. As the show’s biggest fan, no one could possibly deserve it more than her!
Except a GIANT obstacle stands in her way: her parents deny her permission to audition.
To make matters even worse, Natalie’s naturally talented best friend, Kailyn, decides to audition too, and will stop at nothing to win. With their friendship suddenly in question, Natalie turns to her blog, In A “Nat” Shell, to vent her frustrations, but Natalie’s emotional outpouring and lies only creates more anxiety for herself. With the stakes high, Natalie goes against her parent’s wishes and decides to audition, but Kailyn has her own secret plan to be Number One, even if it means doing so at the expense of her best friend. Can Natalie find a way out of the drama and into the spotlight? Or will the competitive pressure cause her to lose her ultimate dream along with her best friend?

Reality Natalie received 18 new reviews through this Book Review Blitz.
Oh My Bookness (Amazon): “This is s story many young girls can relate to. The feelings and emotions, the hormones going all wanky. The need to fit in at any possible means, rebelling against parental figures and wanting to be cool and feel no one understands you…..its a great story for any girl, it is easy to relate on a personal level with a nice plot development to give the story substance.“
Jane Ritz: “I think this is a wonderful book, especially for girls in the middle grades.“
Stitch Says: “This book is written in a way that tween girls will love reading. The characters are realistic and girls will relate to them.“
Kevin G. (Amazon): “Hmm – I absolutely loved this book! It’s a must read for girls in that fragile but exciting age group (10 – 13), but as a guy who’s about to hit 60 (UGH!), I can say that anyone would enjoy this story.“
Heart of a Philanthropist: “I don’t know any preteen girl who hasn’t dealt with virtually all the stuff that Natalie goes through in this book. I like that there are no cuss words or sexual content (no boy/girl romances, etc.) and that it is safe reading for even the most prudent readers. Katie Sparks uses a lot of humor throughout the story and I found myself laughing out loud a few times. I highly recommend Reality Natalie for your junior high daughters.“
2ReadBook: “Such an enjoyable breath of fresh air. Natalie, Natalie ….. sweet Natalie... The characters were perfect and likeable and a joy to follow. Easy and pleasant to read with all the hype of the life of ‘Realty Natalie.'”
Bookworm for Kids: “If you’re looking for a girl power with tons of spunk and energy, this is it… This book is written at an extremely fast pace. Dialogue is the key runner here, and it is so jammed packed with fun, that I had to smile most of the way through.“
Amy B. (Goodreads): “This is a perfect story for a young girl who is around the same age as Natalie. A few good lessons are also taught in the story. I found that I really liked this and I know that the average pre-teen will too!”
Rockin’ Book Reviews: “Parents will be pleased what a wonderful “clean read” Reality Natalie is! This is tale of a small group of youth during those fickle pre-teen and teen years! Such is a time when personal values are challenged and events exaggerated in one’s mind.“
Adalinc to Life: “I give Reality Natalie 5 stars out of 5. I found reading it to be quick paced, and filled with a variety of themes that could be tackled and appropriate to tween girls today.“
Charlene A. (Amazon): “I really enjoyed reading this debut book by author, Katie Sparks. The likeable characters, especially Natalie herself, is sure to appeal to the main age group this book speaks to. I would definitely recommend it to the older middle-grade and preteen crowd. It’s a winner!“
Michelle (Amazon; Child Review): “Parents, I totally recommend this book for your tween girls and their best friends. Teachers, I would recommend this book for your whole class. They will all find someone in the story to relate to and learn some great lessons about growing up.“
Books Direct: “A funny, fast-paced story especially suited to tween girls.“
Beauty Brite: “Katie Sparks delivers a polished, well-written and totally fun story with we-defined, complete characters who suffer through this thing called life, experience life-changing epiphanies and come out the other side wiser for it. Pre-teens will absolutely fall in love with this book and the main character, Natalie. Heck, I’m 40-something and I fell in love with it for teen girls everywhere!“
BeachBoundBooks: “The story doesn’t just focus on Natalie’s plight for fame, but also addresses social issues, overcoming fears, righting wrongs, and being a true friend. As in real life, Natalie must face the consequences of her poor choices and her life lessons are timeless. On her journey to fame, Natalie learns a lot about herself and the person she aspires to be.“
Kay LaLone ~ I Love Books!: “Natalie learns many lessons on her road to becoming a guest TV host. Natalie is a great, fun character.“
Bing (Goodreads): “My 6-year-old loved reading this story with me. I highly recommend it to readers aged 6 and over.“
Linda (Goodreads): “Katie Sparks tells a realistic story that could happen in real life with Natalie being forced to call the TV show and admit that she cheated and apologize. She also learned that sometimes her mom and dad did what was the best for the WHOLE family and maybe winning was not worth losing her best friend if she won.“
